The Lake Street School Parent Teacher Organization (LSS PTO) is an organization made up of parents, teachers and administrators that all have a common goal. That goal is for our children to have a successful and positive educational and social elementary school experience.

PTO Meetings: Monthly PTO meetings are generally held on the second Tuesday of the month in the cafeteria. At these interactive meetings there are principal’s reports, budget reports, news on PTO sponsored events and much more. Coming to these meetings is a great way to share ideas and stay informed with all that goes on in our school.

Volunteers: Throughout the year, the PTO has many opportunities for parents to volunteer and be involved. Depending on your interest and time availability, you may choose a level of involvement that works best for you.

501(c)(3): In the summer of 2005, the PTO incorporated and applied for and obtained 501(c)(3) status, which officially made the LSS PTO a non profit organization. What that means for the PTO is that we are able to obtain grants and other monies that we would otherwise not be able to get without this status. It also means that donations made to the LSS PTO are TAX DEDUCTIBLE. If anyone would like to look at the 501(c)(3) application or the PTO bylaws, the information is available in the school office.

Lake Street School PTO Non Discrimination Resolution
The PTO supports the nondiscrimination agreements and warranties required under CGS 4a-60(a)(1) and 4a-60(a(a)(1), as amended in State of Connecticut Public Act 07-245 and sections 9(a)(1) and 10(a)(1) of Public Act 07-142. These statutes prohibit discrimination on the basis of: race, color, religious creed, age, marital status, national origin, ancestry, sex, mental retardation, physical disability, sexual orientation or civil union status.
