Meeting
March 14, 2006
The meeting was called to order at 7:03 p.m.
Meeting Minutes: A motion was made to pass the February minutes.
Treasurer’s Report: Paul Gilson reviewed the budget.
Board of Education: Amarjit Buttar advised that the latest board meeting was uneventful.
Teacher’s Report: Mrs. Bernardo and Mrs. Barry presented the reports for each grade on current topics and upcoming events. Grades 3-5 were busy wrapping up the Mastery Testing.
Principal’s Report: Mr. Testa reported that he hopes to get the CMT results back by the end of the school year but realistically it will probably be summertime. He will share the results with parents in the fall.
LSS will hold a Read-A-Thon on March 31st. Governor Rell is scheduled to come to the school and read.
The PRIDE bulletin board displays the 31 nominated students who received recognition at the PRIDE assembly for the month.
Fine Arts Night will be held on May 17th and 18th. It will be held two nights to have enough seating for all parents who wish to attend. The initial thoughts are to split up the nights by grade level (4th and 5th grades).
Movie Night was sponsored by the Student Council and was a success with a $150 profit.
Lake Street School Luau/Family Fun Night: Heidi Bolduc provided an update and advised that 310 people were planning to attend. Mike Bolduc encouraged all teachers to attend and share the fun with LSS families.
Playscape: Jason Norris provided an update on the playscape. The town has approved Phase 2. Phase 3 is to buy, receive and install playscape equipment. Funding for Phase 3 will be called “Pavers for Playscape” and will begin on March 21st. The goal is to have each LSS family sell/purchase 3 bricks. Prizes will be awarded to students for various selling goals.
PTO Survey: Pam Oliva advised that the survey was sent to LSS parents regarding a public school dress code/uniform policy. The Board of Education will review the questionnaires from all schools and share the results with the PTO’s.
Boy Scout Pack 221 – Dave Murray stated that The Pinewood Derby was a great experience for the boys. They will be taking a trip to sleep on a Battleship in Massachusetts on March 18th. April 30th the Pack Olympics will be held.
