Meeting
November 14, 2006
The meeting was called to order at 7:04 p.m.
Meeting Minutes: A motion was made to pass the October minutes.
Treasurer’s Report: Paul Gilson reviewed the new format of the budget report which notes monthly and year to date results in addition to activities.
Principal’s Report: The PTO was thanked for efforts in the PAWS to Read Program.
The BEST (behavior, effort, scholarship and trustworthiness) Awards will be given out on November 15th at 8:30am. Parents of children receiving the BEST award are invited to attend the assembly.
Board of Education meeting updates – due to construction
scheduled for the summer of 2008, the 2007 school year will begin earlier,
April vacation will be reduced and school will end on June 10th. School will not start until after Labor Day
which will give a longer summer to complete the scheduled construction to
LSS Staff will participate in a pilot program for professional development. There will be 7 days that we will have early dismissals.
Mr. Buttar – The Board of Education approved the LSS playscape project.
Playscape: Julie Marcotte provided an update on the playscape. She thanked volunteers for their help on November 11th to prepare the site. On November 18th the equipment will be installed. Volunteers are needed and forms will be sent home for parents willing to donate their time and talents.
PAWS to Read:
A storyteller will address the students at two age specific programs for
grades K-2 and 3-5.
Bookfair: The fall bookfair will be held during November conferences.
Bolles Motors: Parents are encouraged to fill out a Bolles Motor form on November 16th during conferences. The school receives $5 for each form up to a maximum of $800 from Bolles Motors.
Education Committee: The programs for November are PAWS to Read and a Weather program on November 30. The committee is also changing scheduling of future programs to coincide with the new science curriculum.
McDonald’s Night: Proceeds from all sales on November 29th from 4-8pm will go to LSS-PTO. PTO members will work with food and some teachers will be greeting and sitting with the students.
HVCC Thanksgiving
Snowflake Fair: The fair will be held from December 4-8th. All items will be less then $3.00. Cookie Jar mixes will be sold and a form will be sent home looking for donations of specific ingredients. More information will be sent home.
Pack 221 – Popcorn deliveries will go out next week. Scouting for Food was held last Saturday and a lot of food was raised for the shelter. Uniform inspection will be held on Tuesday.
New Business: The kindergarten classes worked on making Thanksgiving food. There will be a Thanksgiving Feast on November 15th during lunch periods and all parents are welcome to come enjoy a holiday meal.
