Lake Street School PTO, Inc. Meeting

May 22, 2007

 

The meeting was called to order at 7:09 p.m.

 

Meeting Minutes:  A motion was made to pass the April minutes.

 

PTO Board Elections:  Jennifer DiTommaso and Michelle Spadacinni were nominated for Co-President, Pam Oliva for Vice President, Susan Hacking for Secretary and Andrew Halpryn and Paul Gilson for Treasurer. 

 

Treasurer’s Report:  Paul Gilson reviewed highlights from the previous month.  The silent auction net profit was higher then previously reported. 

 

Principals Report:   Dr. Katz (beth.katz@vernon.org), VCMS principal provided an overview of how the 6th grade breakdown would be for 2007-2008.  There are 310 incoming students who will be broken down into 3 teams. Students will receive schedules on the first day of school.  In August, students receive notification of what team they are on and required school supplies.

 

June 5th will be the next referendum vote.

 

June 1st will be the STAR recognition breakfast.

 

Book Fair/Summer Reading Program:  The event made $3400, expenses were $2950 and books for the summer reading program were purchased. A total of $400 extra profit was made and will go into the general fund.

 

Science Fair/Pizza Social:  Teachers were thanked for volunteering.  Participants did a very impressive job with their projects.

 

Playscape:  Volunteers are needed to help set up and run the auction during the Comedy Night fundraiser.  Seating is for 160 people and parents are encouraged to purchase tickets early.  Brad Davis will be the auctioneer for the Comedy Night on June 9th.

 

5th Grade Recognition:  June 12th at 1pm.

 

Kindergarten Orientation:  May 30th at 6:30pm.

 

PTO Committee Sign-Ups:  The PTO is seeking volunteers to chair various committees that will take place at the beginning of school.  Meadow Farms is the company that will supply our fall fundraiser.

 

Cub Scouts:  Jim Mlodzinski will be the new Pack 221 representative.
